Abstract
This study is to analyze the experiences of counselors participating in case conceptualization training. For this purpose the grounded theory approaches was used. The subjects of this study were ten counselors who had individual counseling experience under 45-hour average. Data were obtained by intensive interviews with ten counselors. After researching, 36 concepts, 19 sub-categories and 12 categories were derived from this study. The central phenomenon were found to be "Joy and reflection by insight". The casual conditions of central phenomenon were "awareness of their own case conceptualization problems". This phenomenon was found to be reinforced by the contextual conditions of "receiving case conceptualization training being connected with actual counseling intervention". "Educator factor" and "time factor in the training course", and "time factor in the workplace" were found to be the remedial factors with respect to the central phenomenon. Among the remedial strategies reported for the central phenomenon were "doing the determination of execution", "executing in counseling practice". The consequences were found to be "the changed attitude to clients", "this enhanced case conceptualization skill being linked with counseling practice capacity", "recognizing the need for continuing education and training", and "recognizing the importance of self-reflection as a counselor". The conceptualization process had shown 5 stages. Finally, based on the above findings, the implications of study are discussed and a direction for future research is suggested.
